The new Rockville Library is featured in the April design issue of American Libraries, which highlights 27 new and recently renovated libraries. The library is located in the heart of the new Rockville Town Center. According to the library website, the designers, Grimm and Parker, sought to commemorate the mapping of the human genome, a local achievement. Exterior photos can be found on the library’s website. The interior is equally impressive. AL was impressed by the open floor plan with radial stacks, which provide clear views of all parts of the library from a central location. While there aren’t many interior shots available online, there are two great photos on page 46 of AL.
