CLIS Student Chapter of the American Library Association

Saturday’s Orientation May 1, 2007

Approximately eighty incoming CLIS students attended orientation on Saturday. CLIS-ALA was there to meet the students and promote interest in the chapter.

Justin and Shannon were part of the student perspective panel and were also given some time to tell students about our group and introduce the mentorship program.

Erin greeted students at the CLIS-ALA table, where we had handouts (Snippets from the The Unofficial Graduate Student Guide to CLIS) and a new member sign-up sheet. Twenty-six students expressed interest in joining!

We also had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Jaeger’s fabulous presentation: “The Computers Were A Godsend: Internet, E-Government, and Public Libraries in Community Disaster Recovery”
